Best Part of KPMG

The best part of KPMG for me is the people. And the fact that you never run out of new things to do or new adventures to take. I never would have thought when I began my career, 13 years ago, that I would end up living in New York City. I never thought that I would be flying to London for a meeting. And I have had the opportunity to meet some of the most amazing people, whether it be other U.S. people or people around the world, and interact with them in various capacities, whether it be in an audit; whether it be developing training; whether it be looking to devise the future strategies of the firm; or just, make it a better environment for a woman to become successful. So I think the wealth of opportunities, and the people that we hire have made this a great place to be.

Mentoring

I will tell you I would be lost without my mentors, and I think that's one of the other things that KPMG does very well. Because you reach certain points in your career, and you're not sure of the decisions, or you know, which direction that you want to go and what is best for you. And a mentor actually helps you think through what lays ahead of you. And what is really going to make you happy. What really drives you, and helps you focus on what decision you need to make.

They also give you advice, I think, that you can use throughout your career, and you can use in many different circumstances.

Opportunity

You have an opportunity to work with people in different environments. But you also are not doing the same thing every day. So each client you go to is like a whole new job, and a whole new set of challenges that you get to attend to.

Career Building

I definitely think that KPMG is a great place to build a career. And you might end up building a career that you didn't plan on when you started with the firm. I thought I was going to be an auditor for a couple of years, and then leave the firm. And in my third year, I had the opportunity to do exactly what I thought I wanted, and I didn't have any desire to leave KPMG. And then I thought I was going to stay and become a partner in the audit practice. And was dead set on that path. And then had an opportunity to explore the world of training. And that has opened many new doors for me.

Client Service Support

Client Service Support (CSS) is all of the support that our professionals in the field, who are generating revenue need to be effective in their roles. Training, for example, is a critical component of not only our infrastructure and our people, feeling that they can then be educated to do their roles better - but also it's a critical risk management component of our firm, so that we as a firm are going to progress and be successful. So all of the components of CSS, recruiting, training, HR…that is the underlying strength that gets, that helps propel the audit practice or any other of our functional practices, to where they need to be effective in the marketplace.
