What attracted you to KPMG?
What attracted me initially to KPMG was the people. I mean, hands down, I interviewed with, at the time there were six firms. So I interviewed with all six firms. And I got offers from five of them. And I realized the only differentiating factor between all, they all do the same thing. At the end of the day, they all perform the same services. And when it came down to it, it was just the people that made the difference. And the people were a perfect fit for my personality.
Any advice for new candidates?
The advice I'd give the new candidates joining KPMG is basically just to have an open mind for learning. I mean this whole process is about learning. At the end of the day, when I think about what I do for a living, I feel like I learn, and I teach. And that's all I do every single day. I'm learning, I'm teaching, learning teaching. And that goes as well with the client. So, at the end of the day, I just think that if you're going to do anything, make sure you have an open mind for learning.
Describe the environment at KPMG.
I think of it as a laid back culture. I mean being at KPMG in the audit practice, we get to work in different work environments. So we get a chance to see what different work environments and industries are like. And what I've seen at KPMG is it's fairly relaxed. I feel like it's primarily a team atmosphere. For the most part I feel like everyone is there the to help everyone, just to get the job done.
Tell me about training opportunities.
At KPMG, there, it seems like we're training 24/7. Because the industry's moving so fast these days that we're constantly being trained. So if it's not training over the Internet, or training in the local office, then it's a national training. So we're constantly learning so that the training process here has been pretty intense.
Describe working at a client site.
I mean 90 percent of the job is client interaction. So it's getting information from the client, analyzing the information, and just reporting results. So for the most part, we are in a room with the team. So, for the engagement that I work on, it's a team of about 12 people. And we all sit in a room and we work together, but at the end of the day it's really just getting information from the client, analyzing it, and feeding back the results.
