What Sets Us Apart

KPMG's Washington, D.C. office is the primary base for the Washington DC operation. Located in the northwest area of D.C., the office is less than eight blocks from the White House. KPMG also operates an office in the Tysons Corner area to better serve our clients in Northern Virginia. By having more than one office, KPMG is better able to serve our client base within the District of Columbia as well as the surrounding Virginia and Maryland areas.

In 2007, KPMG was cited one of the "Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For." Only 100 companies were selected for this honor, out of a pool of thousands, based on employee benefits, work environment and opportunities to grow. It is KPMG's goal to continuously improve its work environment through such initiatives as the Employee Assistance Program, Perks at Work, LifeWorks, the Work Environment Council, the "Involve" program and more.

Washington, DC's competitive edge consists of approximately 145 partners and nearly 1,600 professional and administrative staff members working together in line-of-business teams to provide our clients with market-focused services and practical business approaches. Clients within and surrounding the nation's capital form a diverse group and include Fortune 500 companies, independent colleges and state university systems, emerging high-tech firms and international financial institutions. We also perform audit, tax, and advisory services for a number of federal, state and local government agencies. In fact, our Government audit practice is the largest practice in the area.

The Washington National Tax Practice (WNTP), a fundamental element of KPMG's tax resources, is a center of technical know-how. Founded in 1959 and based in our Washington DC office, the WNTP is one of the largest, most experienced and technically diverse tax knowledge centers in the world. The practice boasts 170 professionals focused on every aspect of local, state, national and international taxation, and includes some of the nation's leading tax authorities.

Many professionals opt to do 6-month to 2-year rotations outside of their specified service area within the Washington, D.C. area or at an international KPMG office. Popular rotations among Washington DC professionals include Tax rotations for Audit professionals (or vice versa) and assignments abroad to KPMG offices in the United Kingdom, Australia, France, Russia and Germany.
